 FAQs

  • A dental implant is a titanium post or screw that is placed in the jaw to replace one or multiple missing teeth. The most common material is titanium or a titanium alloy because it is highly biocompatible, and an allergy to titanium is extremely rare!

  • Research work has shown that dental implants last a long time if done properly. Having said that, one must treat their dental implants like natural teeth. You must schedule regular dental check-ups, brush twice a day, and floss once a day too. Read more…

  • Typically, a single implant placement, where no extraction is needed, takes less than 30 minutes. However, if an extraction and bone grafting is needed then the procedure can take an hour. Multiple dental implants will take additional time accordingly.

  • Anyone can be a good candidate for dental implants. Ideally, a patient with good volume of bone in either jaw is a good candidate. However, in the case of resorbed bone, there are technologies to rebuild that bone and make the area ideal of implant. Read more on getting dental implants if you have jawbone recession here…

  • All on Four are for edentulous patients or for patients whose teeth are at a point they cannot be salvaged. All on Four are hybrid prosthesis which are held in place by dental implants and they mimic your natural teeth in look, function and feel. Once again, we cannot stress that All on Four should be treated like your natural teeth, therefore, regular visits to a dental office for hygiene checks is a must. Read more on the benefits of All on Four here…

  • We place dental implants at the time of extraction, also called immediate implant placement. However, we can place the dental implant post extraction at any time as well.

    • The number of implants needed

    • The number of crowns needed

    • Whether a supplemental procedure is required

    • The type of implant needed

    • The status of your bone

Because everyone’s case is different, we do not have a standard cost. However, upon your visit you will find that our costs are average in the Charlotte, NC area. Learn about our financing options by clicking here.

  • Not at all. If the patient is fully and profoundly anesthetized, they will feel no pain. The procedure can be done under just local anesthesia. Post dental implant surgery, patients experience a variety of transient symptoms ranging from pain, bleeding to swelling. These post-op symptoms are only temporary and can be successfully managed with OTC drugs and ice therapy.
